Ministries
Here are some of the ministries we value at WSPC. If you have any more questions about what we do, please check out our calendar, or contact us:
Nursery: We have a fully trained staff of Nursery workers here to take care of your little one while you attend the Sunday service. All of our volunteers that work with babies, children, or youth are trained according to our Plan to Protect policy of child safety. Donna Barkley directs our nursery.
God’s Treehouse (Children’s Ministry): After we sing a couple songs on Sunday morning, the kids are sent downstairs to God’s Treehouse. During that time, they split into their own age groups to learn about God in age-appropriate and creative ways. Yvonne Higgins directs this ministry.
REV Youth: Our youth group meets every Friday night at 7:30. Under the leadership of Pastor Wendy Payne, the youth learn about God, while doing all sorts of crazy events.
REV Bible Study: Pastor Wendy’s holding a Bible Study Wednesday nights from 7-8 at the church for those who want to dig deeper. This meeting is intentionally held the same time as our prayer meeting: parents, feel free to drop off your kids and join with us in the sanctuary for prayer.
Bridges (Women’s Ministry): Kitty Nancekievill coordinates all the women’s ministry events at our church. The ladies meet every couple months to fellowship and support various mission causes such as the Women’s Interval House.
Women’s Bible Study: Pastor Wendy is starting a study for women in all stages of life. The group will meet at her house, and childcare will be provided. More details (day and time) will follow soon.
Men’s Ministry: While there’s no regularly scheduled meetings, we meet a number of times each year for fishing trips, Silver Birches camp, and the occasional breakfast.
Time Out: This is an opportunity for adults of all ages to join together socially every other month. Phil Nancekievill’s in charge of this ministry, and has some exciting events planned. Keep an eye on the church calendar for details.
Prayer: Prayer is vital to the life of any church. We meet every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. for an hour of prayer. Everyone is welcome. We also meet at 9:30 on Sunday mornings downstairs for pre-service prayer. We also have an active prayer-chain. If you have a prayer request for the church, call Pastor Steve or Eilene Morris, and we’ll pray together as a church.
Music: Music is an important part of worship. We have a full modern worship band that blends older songs with the newest music. Our team is non exclusive. If you play and instrument, sing, or enjoy technical work on the soundboard or projector, we would love to see you use your gifts here. Talk to Pastor Steve if you’re interested.
Missions: We are an evangelical church. That means we believe that Jesus important to more than just us. We practice that belief by supporting local missions as well as international efforts to care for people’s physical and spiritual well being.
Meals: When someone goes through a difficult time in life—an injury, sickness, or even the birth of a new baby—we show our love and care practically by arranging for meals to be dropped off. Gerry Murray organizes this ministry. Please contact the church if you know someone who could use this ministry.
