Lost and Found
When Jesus overheard the Pharisees and scribes grumbling about his willingness to eat with sinners, he told a series of three stories. You can read them in Luke 15:
- The Lost Sheep
- The Lost Coin
- The Lost Sons (The Prodigal Son)
All three parables share some common features. They all involve people or things that are lost (sheep, coin, sons). They each demonstrate a God who searches after his lost people (shepherd, woman, father). Finally, (and we should be sure never to overlook this) they all involve celebrating the successful return of what was lost.
We looked at the first two parables Sunday Morning.
