An Interesting Sunday
There’s no message to post from this Sunday, because I didn’t end up preaching—which is very odd for me! Here’s what happened:
As I was finishing the worship set, I felt like we should take some time and pray for each other’s needs. We shared our requests and assigned different people to pray for each of them. We prayed for:
- People to understand and use their spiritual gifts;
- Those who needed jobs;
- People who were hurting but felt unable to ask for help;
- The men’s and women’s retreats coming up in September;
- The leadership of the church;
- The four students we have returning to college;
- . . . and much more.
As we started, I thought we might take 10 or 15 minutes to pray. Forty-five minutes later we finished: our Sunday morning service became a large prayer meeting.
It was very encouraging for me to hear so many people pray for each other. If you were encouraged by the service, why not try out a Wednesday night prayer meeting (7-8 pm), or Sunday morning prayer (9:30-9:55 downstairs)? It’s important to communicate with God both in private and together as his church.
To close, I read a selection from Psalm 103 on God’s grace—the subject of what was supposed to be last Sunday’s message, but will now have to wait until next week.
Thanks for your prayer!
