Here’s the final message on what makes a healthy church. We looked at three things:
- We are commissioned to make disciples. We’re not told to hold mass rallies, or to convince strangers to say sinner’s prayers. We’re called to make disciples, which means we need to spend time with people.
- We are empowered to be faithful witnesses like Jesus was. The reason the Spirit was given (one of our Pentecostal emphases) was to empower us to witness. Do you wish you had more of the Spirit in your life? Try less time praying in worship services and more time sharing your faith. We can’t be selfish with this gift!
- Witnessing should be a natural thing: it’s when our lives and words line up. Let’s drop the scripts and love people instead.
A couple technical notes:
- There’s a silence about five minutes into the message where I played this video: Witnessola.
- I refer to the previous weeks message on the Great Commission. This one wasn’t recorded, but I covered all the salient points in the current message.
. . .
So we’re challenged to strengthen our relationships: with God, with each other, and with the world outside the church. What do you need to work on next?
