One commentator calls Ecclesiastes chapter 9 possibly the most depressing chapter in the entire book. He could be right! In it, the author muddles around in despair, wondering how the righteous and the wicked both get the same fate: Sheol—the grave.
In order to bring some balance to this passage, we looked at the basic idea of Sheol in the Old Testament, along with the Resurrection and Heaven. The title of this message isn’t a typo—it’s a well-worn phrase that N. T. Wright uses to differentiate between Heaven and Resurrection.
Oh yeah—my apologies to Tanya Tucker about the beginning of the message. There’s a reason I’m not a country singer.
