You wouldn’t expect any random Joe off the street to successfully perform open heart surgury on you unless he was trained and experienced as a surgeon. You wouldn’t expect a miscellaneous friend from the gym to perform the third movement of Mendelssohn’s 1st Piano Concerto on demand—unless, of course, she was a classically trained pianist. Yet we illogically expect God to inject his character into our lives without any effort on our part.
We are unequivocally saved by grace alone—but what are we saved to do? What is the ultimate goal of the Christian life? This message explores those questions.
In case you want to hear how I was inspired for this message, or to pursue to role of virtue in the Christian life further, you can listen to N. T. Wright’s lecture over at Parables of a Prodigal World.
