Turn, Turn, Turn (dizzy yet?)

ecclesiastesThis week brings us to the most famous passage of Ecclesiates. Ecclesiastes 3:1-15, and verses 2-8 especially is the sort of passage that people know even if they don’t realize it’s from scripture.

This poem is most often recited at funerals and concerts. One of the reasons for its fame is this song, made famous by the Byrds:

We’ve turned this poem into some zen-like philosophy of life. For the Qohelet—the teacher of Ecclesiastes—this poem is proof that life is futile! Click on the title to listen to the message:

Turn, Turn, Turn (dizzy yet?)

Once again, the key to interpreting this text lies in the scope of the investigation: are we merely “under the sun”, or “in Christ”?
