Posted January 19, 2009 – 9:40 am in: Messages

MicrophoneProphecy is incredible. Just imagine: God wants to communicate to us directly!

This week’s message begins with a final introduction before taking an in-depth look at the gift of prophecy. Click on the title to hear the message:

Prophecy

Have you ever experienced prophecy? What do you think it’s all about? Have you ever been in a manipulative environment or seen this gift abused?

Great sermon brother, I hope the message gets through. I just want to write a few words before i leave this site. I am disappointed in the lack of blogs happening here though I am not surprised… it’s like the lack of input from people in the evening service. I must say bless the ladies that share in the exhorting and building up of each other during those meetings. The lack of males saying anything is sad to say the lease. Maybe they don’t understand the questions and the questions are to hard? Maybe the questions are to easy and they want us to bask in our ignorance? Maybe I am a prophet and don’t know it.;)
Whatever the case I will drop in here from time to time and see if things pick up, or maybe Bruce will have something profound to say… then I guess I will never be back.LOL
Steve bless you and may God keep using you in his work.

    Wayne,

    Couple things.

    1) Blogs always start slow. Not everyone uses the internet, and it takes time to build community. You may be disappointed, but I’m not. I know from the bandwidth stats that people are listening in, even when they don’t feel like they want to comment.

    2) I think you’re too hard on the men! As I recall, you didn’t say too much in that service, either :) Men and women are different, especially in the way they participate in conversation.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Wayne;
Some people like to weigh their comments before they speak (or write). The disappointment would be if anyone used this web-site for anything other than the edification of the body. Words, either written or spoken, are powerful. I will choose mine wisely.

I agree to some degree with what you have written. It is funny that a lady responded and not a man to my comments. As for edification of the body, I hope you don’t believe that edifcation has only to be possitive remarks? Take the scriptures they are edifiing but yet not always postive in nature. 2 Tim. 3:16a “All scripture is God- breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” so edification can come in many forms. I thank you for making this a richer place to be. I hope that no one takes offence with my words, I believe them to be true.

    Greetings:
I want to respond to the questions put forth.

1st. I know that I have functioned in the capacity of the prophetic, and have been used in arenas outside of WSPC in this area. You have said that we will delve deeper and I agree that the prophetic can be very complex yet simple for our understanding. Simply the prophetic is just speaking or acting the will of God. If we are moving in the Spirit then we are moving in the prophetic. Going deeper, as we develop in our walk and more easily recognize the Father’s voice, the more intimate and serious things he will show us and direct us in, as we mature and are faithful. I’m not saying that we will not make mistakes along the way.

2nd is that YES the prophetic can be used in a manipulative way. John Bevere’s book “Thus saith the Lord” deals with this very well . In the aspect of manipulation, which is witchcraft, and in that we can be just intuitive and call it “God said”. A very dangerous area to walk in.

God does speak to all of us in the way we hear. The prophetic voice of God will call us to some action even if it is prayer in the closet. It is not always a easy place to be and is generally not accepted if it calls us to repentance.
Always if you are hearing a word test that it comes under the authority of Jesus Christ, and that it lines up with scripture because the Spirit supports the Father and Son.
